How the Diabetologist Reacted

If you read my previous post about how my doctor reacted, you'll understand why I was a little nervous about going to my checkup with the diabetologist that I do twice every year.

First I showed him the results from my blood work and urinalysis. The numbers were close to perfect, except for the uric acid, as I mentioned before. My HbA1c (which is average blood sugar levels for the last two to three months) was the best it's ever been since I was diagnosed diabetic. (It was in the normal range.)

I also told him how much weight I'd lost. He was very pleased, and said not to worry about the uric acid, as it was high because I'm losing weight. Then he asked me how much insulin I'm currently taking, and I said zero. He was slightly surprised, but very pleased. I told him that I've pretty much eliminated carbohydrates from my diet. His only comment was that if my Hb1Ac starts going back up again, we should discuss options (medication).

So I am really happy that he was pleased, and I can't wait to tell my regular doctor what he said. LOL!
